When I first bought it, I used it less than 5 times within 6 months and it suddenly wouldn't turn on. It just stopped working or broke. I returned the item for a replacement and I use it occasionally now. I've had it for 2 years and I used it probably less than 20 times for straightening and curling. Even though this has floating plates, it sometimes tugs on my hair when I curl it, and even breaks some strands of hair. It works fine for straightening though.

I truly love this iron. I get relaxers once every 2-3 months and in between this iron makes my hair smooth and silky. It has adjustable settings and I keep it around 160, yet it goes as high as 200. I love Amika products. I want their hot roller set, too!

The iron heats up amazingly fast and stays at a constant temperature which is nice. It definitely glides through my hair effortlessly and feels less damaging than using any of my previous irons. I have naturally very curly hair and it comes out smooth & straight. However, it will wave up in very humid or sweaty conditions which i think is true in most cases.

It does fairly work well, but it still makes my hair frizzy after a couple of hours and does not stay straight throughout the day, but that can also be my hair but over all its good.
